Events at the American Museum of Natural History

Celebrate Manhattanhenge with a lecture and 3D presentation by AMNH’s Senior Research Scientist Jackie Faherty, followed by a viewing of the phenomenon. Manhattanhenge takes place twice a year, where the setting Sun aligns with the cross-sections of the streets of the Manhattan grid perfectly, creating a visual treat.

If you are a member of the American Museum of Natural History, you get to explore the museum’s exhibitions with private, members-only access for 2 hours once a month. All membership levels are welcome and can enjoy their time at the museum without the rush from crowds.

Family Party is an annual benefit event at the museum where families and children can enjoy hands-on educational activities, along with interactions with multiple scientists and educators in their respective fields. A live animal presentation, insights into interesting artifacts from the museum’s collections, and added perks you can enjoy later make this event one of AMNH’s favorite traditions.

Enjoy an informal evening of conversations and drinks after hours at the museum about different topics related to scientific research, developments in preservation, cutting-edge technology, climate change, marine life, and more, with experts from their fields.

This event is only open to adults aged 21 and above.

Educators’ Evenings are curated by the Gottesman Center for Science Teaching and Learning for teachers, professors, and educators, designed to be networking receptions to help them plan their field trips. They include an introduction to AMNH’s exhibitions by the museum’s curators, various curriculum materials and resources, followed by a catered reception.
